This
is the very first clock I ever built: very simple from a conceptual
and constructional point of view. The
escapement is of the folliot type, very reliable mechanically,
but very poor timekeeper too . Monks were so forced to put it again to time at noon by mean of a sundial on the passage of sun on the local meridian. |

The oscillation is changed by shifting the two larger weights along the top rod ( folliot). Two smaller weights are seen in the picture.They are used for fine regulation or at least for aesthetic purpose. The driving weight ( not shown in the pictures ) runs the movement for approximately thirty hours |
