Balance wheel clock ( # 7 )

This clock was originally designed by John Stevens. I like it a lot because compared with many other clocks which have the escapement-balance wheel fixed on a plate, here they both are harmonically melted as a single piece.

The low frequency of the balance wheel oscillation (134 oscillations/min.) allows for a perfect view of the escapement action . In wristwatches the high number of oscillations (from 16.200 to 21,000 oscillations / hour), hardly allows a clear analysis of the dynamics of the movement.

You can easily see all the features of this classic clock: the fusee with its winding duration of eight days, the train with four wheels and the escape wheel which has 15 teeth (typical lever escapement layout) and the anchor embracing two and half teeth. The bell rings once each hour.
