Artistic sundial ( # 16 )

This Sundial is based on the same principle of n° 10.

When building this new instrument, my aim was to empathize the beauty of all its parts.

By slightly increasing its dimension , I got a sundial large enough to let people reading the time quite precisely.

The latitude regulation is achieved by varying the the instrument tilting.

This variation is made by sliding the left support along the main arm where a degrees band is engraved.

On the dial in front this arm there is a device which allows for the

equation of the time correction . The solar time correction device is set in the upper part . The correction device for the longitude is set in the lower part of the same dial.

Once all correction values are settled, it is possible to read the middle time (the same as our wristwatch) just revolving the instrument by means of a knob shown in the right.

This knob allows for a "thin" rotation of the main body until the sun-ray shines through the lens and hits the intersection between the meridian line and the line of the day the reading is taken.

These latter lines are engraved on the dial set under the lens. On the same plate, middle values of the equation of time are also engraved .

The motto...“if you have doubt of your clock, trust me, I’m precise”.
